What does unlocking your mobile phone mean?
An unlocked phone allows you to use any SIM card from any network in it, not just the network you bought your phone from. This gives you the freedom to change providers, lower your contract costs and pass on, or sell your phone to others.
What Network am I on?
In the UK we have 4 main networks, we have a lot of other network plan providers which borrow the big four main network companies coverage, to distribute their own plans, this is known as piggybacking. This is not a bad thing as if you have an EE Locked phone, the sim cards that piggyback will also be usable in the phone.
EE: Asda Mobile, Bt Mobile, The Phone Coop, Virgin Mobile, Axis Mobile, Delivhgt Mobile, Natterbox, Plusnet Mobile, Vectone Mobile
O2: GiffGaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, Lyca Mobile, TalkTalk Mobile
Three: iD Mobile, The People's Operator, Globalgig
Vodafone: Talk Mobile, Cortel Telephone, Glemnet, Highnet, Lebara Mobile, Ownfone, Zest4 Mobile
With our Unlocked mobile phones, however, every UK Network should work in the device. Because the phone is unlocked this should work with every network worldwide, however, we cannot test this for ourselves. We do however have thousands of happy international customers using phones purchased from ourselves.
What are the main benefits of unlocking my phone?
Get a cheaper tariff- Paying too much a month for your phone, or paying for minutes and data you don't actually use? Unlocking your phone will allow you to move networks, change your tariff, or you could even go pay-as-you-go. This will allow you to have the phone you love, and pay less!
Sell your phone- Unlocked phones are often easier to sell as they can be used on any network, perfect for someone who needs to upgrade but doesn't want to move networks. They also tend to sell for more money, which is always a nice added bonus!
Use your phone abroad- Another great reason to unlock your phone is so you can use foreign SIM cards to cut phone costs while you're abroad. This is perfect is you're going away for a long time, need to work abroad or if you're travelling!
Use promotions-? You are often able to pick up a free SIM card, which also gives you free calls and texts. If your phone isn't unlocked, you can't use them and get the benefits!
