How To Remove Pre-loaded Apps On The HTC One

Last Updated: 11th July 2018

If like many Android users, you’re fed up with the preloaded apps on your HTC One phone, then you have a couple of options when it comes to disabling or removing them. If you’re more tech-savvy than your average Android user, you’ll have probably gained root access to be able to remove these files for good, however, if you’re not so tech-savvy or you’d rather a straightforward option to be able to disable these unwanted, preloaded HTC apps, read on!

NOTE: If you’re looking to gain root access, be aware that it does void your phone warranty and you’d need to know pretty much exactly what you’re doing so you don’t ruin your HTC One phone!

Although gaining access to the root is a desirable option, basically breaking down any barriers to your phone’s firmware, disabling your preloaded HTC One apps can be the better option over removing them for good, particularly:

If you’re not sure if your phone needs the apps to remain running correctly

  1. If you change your mind, you can simply re-enable them again, bringing them back to life!
  2. If you’re not that tech-savvy and are looking to save some space on your phone.

As we mentioned above, disabling your inbuilt HTC One applications can free up some much-needed storage space, so let’s get on with it!

Step one: From your home screen, navigate and select the ‘all apps’ button

Step two: Scroll across until you locate your settings cog and select

Step three: Navigate down to the ‘apps’ section and select

Step four: Scroll through all your apps to find the HTC preloaded ones you’re looking to disable

Step five: Once you’ve selected all the apps you want to disable, simply click the app and press disable

Before you disable your apps you can click into each one to view the storage the app takes up on your HTC One phone, alongside other useful information including battery and mobile data usage. In this section, you can also amend your app settings including notifications and permissions.
