If you’re into your video games and haven’t yet heard about Apex Legends - One, Don’t worry we’ll explain and two, where the hell have you been the past week?
Just to give you some background, Apex Legends went from zero to one of the worlds biggest games in less than 48 hours. The battle royal shooter from EA respawn has become an overnight phenomenon massing over 10 million players in 72 hours. Comparatively, it took BR game Fortnite two weeks to achieve the same milestone.
But, more interestingly, there is apparently a chance that the epic shooter could make its way to our mobile devices at some point in the future.
According to EA’s Q3 earnings call, Apex Legends could be heading to mobile within the next year or so.
CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned the following:
"We are looking at how to take the game to mobile and crossplay over time. I also expect that this game will have tremendous value in Asia, and we're in conversations about that."
This is interesting for two reasons. Not only does it confirm that EA is genuinely thinking about bringing the game to mobile, but it also mentions cross play which means that we could be seeing PC, Xbox, PS4 and potentially mobile players in the same lobby.
We have no idea how balanced that would be but it’s certainly an interesting concept.
