Solarbox Transforms London's Phone Boxes For Free Mobile Charging Service

Posted: Oct 06 2014

Thanks to recent LSE graduates Kirsty Kenney and Harold Craston, Londoners will now have a convenient place to charge their mobile phones on the go. After coming runners up in the Mayor Of London's 2014 Low Carbon Entrepreneur competition this summer, Solarbox launched their first 6 kiosks on Tottenham Court Road last week, with plans to open more across London early next year.

The traditional red boxes are now green and have a 86 cm solar panel mounted on the roof. The Solarbox is open from 5:30 am until 23:30 pm every day of the year. It is totally free to use, as it will be financed by advertising and can give you 20% extra battery life in an impressive 10 minutes.
