New social networking site Ello has really put the cat among the pigeons by making a website that has no adverts and goes against everything that social networking giants such as Facebook and Twitter stand for.
The website is mainly based around the fact it has no adverts and doesn't track your behaviours, this is stated on their website " We also think ads are tacky, that they insult our intelligence and that we're better without them."
The website currently has very basic features and is still invite only, so unless you know someone popular you will have to apply for membership and see what happens. However, you may be waiting a while for a reply, as it's been reported around 31,000 people apply for membership every hour.
Only time will tell if this is just a fad or if it's the real deal, interest in Facebook has been dropping in recent years but Twitter is forever growing in popularity, so it may be tough to convince tweeters to fly the nest and switch over.
