EASA Relax Rules On Airplane Mode
Posted: Sep 30 2014
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) announced earlier this week that it will now allow airlines to permit the use of mobile phones & other electrical devices throughout any flight within Europe.
No longer will you have to switch your mobile phone or tablet to airplane mode, you can use your smartphone, tablet, laptop or e reader freely throughout the flight.
However, EASA has mentioned that it is up to each individual airline whether they implement these changes or not and to what extent they use it. Each airline will need to go through a strict assessment process to make sure the on-board systems will not be affected in any way.
After many years of contemplating whether electrical devices actually affect the aircraft or not, it seems they have answered with a no.
